Two Types of Gear Reducers and Their Advantages

July 01, 2016

If you want to be able to control your motor speed, you have to install speed reducers. Not only do they prevent overheating but they also contribute to precision functioning. All motor-driven machines use gear boxes today. Two major types of gear reducers and their major advantages will be discussed below.

Gear Worm Reducer

Gear worm reducer passes international certification for utilization in modern tech. It performs optimally in high powered devices. This is what you buy if you want cutting-edge equipment to meet maximum capacity. It is also very durable. It doesn’t get easily damaged even when large amounts of pressure are applied from friction or rotation. That is why it is very reliable. Not only does it guarantee great output but it also saves you from the hassle of allocating more space for it.

This type of speed reducer is mostly made of steel – high quality steel. This means that not only is it durable but it is also sustainable. And sustainability leads to flexibility. It can be used in any kind of positioning. Moreover, when a material is sustainable it become eco-friendly. It can be recycled and reused which means that there will be less metal waste at the end of its life.

What’s interesting about this steel gear worm reducer is the fact that although it works at a fast pace for a long period of time, it is not prone to overheating. This is because its steel material is encased with heat treatment. That way there is less to no possibility of overheating and noisy vibrations.

Planetary Cycloidal Reducer

Both gear reducers are used in various fields. This one is also involved in military use and aerospace utility. It has very prompt transmission which hastens speed reduction in a good ratio. Gear worm reducer is good but planetary cycloidal reducer has a much higher output.

The planetary reducer is small and lightweight. Just like other gear reducers, it is also made of steel and the only difference is how it was processed. By grinding the steel material, the gear reducer has harnessed the zenith of mechanical properties. It is guaranteed to be of use for a very, very long time.

The best part of this reducer is its easy maintenance. You can manually disassemble it.  You might conclude that the latter is better than the former, but there are limited applications in which it can be used. That is why if you are not sure which suits your needs, then it would be best to consult a gearbox expert.
