6 Reasons Stainless Steel Gear Motors are Needed by Food Processing Plants
6 Reasons Stainless Steel Gear Motors are Needed by Food Processing Plants
May 13, 2016

If you are working in the food processing industry, what is your main priority besides maximum production and profit? I’m guessing it is product safety. And how can you ensure that? One way is through installation of equipment (from gear motors to process lines) that are both efficient and insusceptible to contamination. This is where stainless steel gear motors come in.

Here are six specific benefits that you can get from stainless steel gear motors.

  • A stainless steel gear motor is very efficient in terms of cleaning. It is resistant to heavy-duty detergents and easy to clean and maintain.
  • Unlike other materials, stainless steel doesn’t catch dirt, so you are guaranteed to encounter less dirt problems, ensuring the longevity of the motor and minimizing chances of contamination.
  • Strong cleaning agents don’t have any negative effect on stainless steel gears because the metal is resistant to corrosion from acidic or alkaline exposure.
  • Steel is a highly durable material. Research demonstrates that it can last over 100 years with proper maintenance, not to mention that it can be recycled and reused.
  • Stainless steel gear motors are very easy to install and integrate. In some cases, detailed manuals are even provided for a DIY installation, thus saving money on contractor costs.
  • Machine cleanliness ensures the safety of the food products being processed. Using stainless steel machinery thus becomes a safety measure for product handling and processing.

All in all, a stainless steel gear motor is efficient, economical, and eco-friendly. It is a cost-effective investment that brings high returns in terms of productivity, operability, and efficiency.

Thanks for the info!

Do you have some tips on cleaning the gear motors? Like how often, with what, etc.

i'd say stainless steel gear motors are only different from other gear motors in appearance, not functionality
